Protect your beloved bike

Unsure how to properly clean and protect your bike from the Great British elements? Follow our simple steps below using our range of Muc-Off products, available to purchase in store. Doing so will dramatically prolong the lifespan of your components and maintain quality performance.

  1. Pre-rinse: using a gentle hosepipe, simply rinse the initial dirt and debris from your bike to avoid scratching the frame. Gentle is key here, too much water pressure can damage your components and bearings which will significantly affect your ride.

  2. Clean: using the Fast Action Bike Cleaner, generously spray the entire bike, including all components so that there is a thick white foam throughout and leave to settle for a few minutes.

  3. Using a soft brush, sponge or cloth, scrub the bike to easily agitate and remove any and all dirt. Such brushes and cloths are available to purchase in store.

  4. Post-rinse: same as pre-rinse to remove all remaining foam and dirt.

  5. Water disperse: using MO 94, spray evenly, particularly in tight and awkward areas, including drivetrain to disperse any remaining water or moisture and eliminate the chance of corrosion.

  6. Drivetrain Cleaner: spray all over drivetrain, including cassette, derailleur and chainring. Avoid contact with disc brake rotors. Allow to settle for a few minutes then scrub well using specific brush, available to purchase in store. Rinse well afterwards.

  7. Disc Brake Cleaner: spray directly onto disc brakes, allow to settle for a few minutes then wipe with a microfiber cloth and rinse gently.

  8. Miracle Shine: pour cautiously onto a clean microfiber cloth and buffer onto the frame so that a haze appears throughout. Allow to settle then using another clean cloth, wipe clean until there is no remaining product and there is a nice glossy finish.

  9. Lubricate drivetrain: Using either wet or dry lube (wet for winter/dry for summer), apply lubricant gently and directly onto each chain link, slowly turning the pedal as you go. Go through each gear one at a time to apply lubricant evenly across all gears for smooth and efficient shifting. Remove any excess to prevent unnecessary spillage and dirt build-up. A little goes a long way.
